First 2023 Corvette Z06 Sets New Record For Barrett-Jackson

A few days ago, the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 70th Anniversary Edition set a new record for a charity sale in Barrett-Jackson as it was sold for a whopping $3.6 million. It is $600,000 more than the previous record holder, which was the first retail 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. The sale would benefit Operation Homefront as they will be receiving the full $3.6 million.

The 2023 Corvette Z06 has the highest horsepower naturally aspirated V-8 in any production car. Retired Corvette Racing legend Oliver Gavin drove the example onto the block at the annual auction, to the delight of the audiences in the room.

Operation Homefront is a national nonprofit which is focused on building strong, stable, and secure military families. Representatives from the noble organization were present at the auction to experience the exciting moment themselves. The winning bidder is the founder and CEO of Hendrick Companies, Rick Hendrick. The whole $3.6 million will be received by Operation Homefront.

Operation Homefront president and CEO Brig. Gen (ret) John I. Pray Jr. shared, “We are deeply grateful to our friends at Chevrolet and Barrett-Jackson for choosing Operation Homefront as the beneficiary of this incredible auction. The proceeds from the sale of this sensational Corvette Z06 will go a long way to helping us help our military families overcome their financial hardships and have the opportunity to thrive in the communities – our communities – they’ve worked so hard to protect.”

Chevrolet has been supporting Operation Homefront since 2017. Aside from the first production cars, they have also provided seven Silverado full-size trucks to the headquarters and six regional offices of the organization. Chevrolet also donated funding for services. With the sale from the recent Barrett-Jackson auction, Chevrolet’s funding support for the organization was significantly increased.

Chevrolet vice president Steve Hill stated, “It’s truly a privilege to support our military members and their families through Operation Homefront. Proceeds from the first retail 2023 Corvette Z06 will benefit many U.S. military families across the country who have done so much to serve our country.”
