Bid Now To Own This Stunning 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Split-Window Custom Coupe by Jeff Hayes
When it comes to crafting second-generation Corvette restomods, few surpass the quality of Jeff Hayes Customs’ creations in Bloomington, Indiana. The 1963 Chevrolet Corvette split-window coupe currently listed for sale on Bring A Trailer serves as a testament to the enduring appeal of the original Sting Ray design.
During the restoration, the fiberglass body was refinished in a sleek black hue and affixed to an Art Morrison chassis. Notable features include the iconic flip-up headlamps, fender vents, quad taillights, chrome bumperettes, and concealed side exhaust pipes. The vehicle sports 18-inch polished Schott wheels in the front and 20-inch ones in the rear, adorned with Diamond Back redline tires sized 235/40 at the front and 275/40 at the rear. The Art Morrison chassis boasts tubular front control arms, a rear four-link setup, adjustable coilovers, front and rear sway bars, and Wilwood disc brakes with polished calipers paired with drilled and slotted rotors.
Inside the cabin, you’ll find custom bolstered bucket seats upholstered in vibrant red leather, complemented by matching door panels and black square-weave carpets. The vehicle’s interior is equipped with an aftermarket leather-trimmed steering wheel, a carbon-fiber-look center console plate, air conditioning, a push-button radio, power windows, and a rear-view camera monitor integrated into the headliner.
Powering this beauty is a 6.2-liter LS3 V8 crate engine, which boasts a Chevrolet Performance Hot Cam camshaft, a Deepmotor induction system with an aluminum intake manifold, and black fuel rails. Additional enhancements include an Eddie Motorsports serpentine accessory drive system, an aluminum radiator, an Optima battery, vintage-style finned coil covers, and stainless exhaust headers. Transmitting power to the rear wheels is a Tremec five-speed manual transmission and an Art Morrison rear axle.
At the time of writing, the current bid stands at $305,000. It’s uncertain how much this gorgeous C2 restomod will fetch when the auction concludes in three days, but in our opinion, it will be a worthwhile investment.
