A comprehensive restomod build combining first-generation Corvette styling with contemporary General Motors V8 performance and bespoke chassis engineering is now listed for sale on Sotheby’s Motorsport. This 1959 Chevrolet Corvette Restomod retains the unmistakable proportions of Chevrolet’s original sports car while incorporating extensive mechanical, structural, and interior upgrades designed to deliver a more refined driving experience.
Finished in Metallic Gray and Silver, the exterior features polished stainless steel and chrome brightwork, carefully tightened body gaps, and a custom linear-actuated hood. A black Stayfast convertible top provides a contrasting finish, while the extensively reworked cabin introduces bespoke gray leather upholstery with white contrast stitching, a billet steering wheel, and modified floorpans that provide an additional four inches of legroom.
Modern amenities further distinguish the build from its original counterpart. Ceramic heat and sound insulation, Vintage Air climate control, Dakota Digital instrumentation, and an Alpine touchscreen stereo bring contemporary comfort and functionality to the vintage cockpit.
Power comes from a 6.2-liter Gen V LT1 V8 fitted with a GM Performance Parts Hot Cam. Supporting hardware includes a DeWitts aluminum radiator and a stainless steel exhaust system with rectangular finishers. The engine is paired with a 4L60 four-speed automatic transmission, providing a more accessible driving experience than the original Corvette’s traditional manual setup.
The drivetrain is supported by a powder-coated Art Morrison GT chassis, representing one of the build’s most substantial engineering upgrades. Independent front suspension and a multi-link rear arrangement replace the original underpinnings, while Hyperco adjustable coilovers provide suspension tuning flexibility. Updated Corvette disc brakes and 19-inch Curtis Speed chrome wheels complete the modernized running gear.
Maintenance records indicate that replacement valve seals were installed in September 2023, followed by an annual service in August 2026. The Corvette currently displays 523 miles, representing mileage accumulated since its refurbishment rather than its original lifetime mileage. Offered with its key set and a seller’s disclosure documenting its condition and known shortcomings, the car presents an extensively reengineered interpretation of the C1 Corvette.
