As every year passes and thousands of enthusiasts continue to flock to the Carlisle Fairgrounds in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, for the world’s largest Corvette show, I’m reminded of how this iconic show was born. Over five decades ago, two self-described “car crazy guys” were told their 1954 Corvette was “not old enough” to be included in a popular car show in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Carlisle’s co-founding father, Bill Miller Jr., summed up that experience by saying, “The Hershey show was our favorite thing to do all year, we were disappointed that we could not participate with what we considered to be an old car.”
That disappointment birthed Carlisle Events. And in 1982, with the help of co-founder Chip Miller, known as “Mr.Corvette,” what we enthusiasts know as Corvettes at Carlisle was added to the yearly event.
