Listed for sale on Bring a Trailer, this 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Split-Window Coupe represents one of the most recognizable and historically significant versions of Chevrolet’s second-generation sports car. The 1963 model introduced the C2 Corvette and, for the first time, offered a fixed-roof coupe, distinguished by its iconic divided rear window.
Originally delivered through Luby Chevrolet of Denver, this example is said to have remained with its original owner for more than five decades before undergoing a comprehensive body-off refurbishment from 2015 to 2017. Its fiberglass body was originally finished in Riverside Red and has since been refinished in the same color, complemented by a black vinyl interior.
The exterior retains the defining C2 design cues, including retractable headlights, fender vents, quad taillamps, chrome bumperettes, and dual exhaust outlets integrated into the rear valance. Fifteen-inch turbine-style wheels with three-eared knock-off spinners and whitewall tires complete the period-correct appearance.
Mechanical improvements include a rebuilt 327ci V8 fitted with a four-barrel carburetor, replacement ignition components and fuel pump, and a 2.5-inch aluminized dual-exhaust system. The engine drives the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and Positraction differential. Power steering and power-assisted front disc brakes were also added, while the chassis received extensive attention, including rebuilt trailing-arm assemblies, replacement front coil springs and A-arm bushings, and powder-coated suspension and frame components.
Inside, the bucket seats received new foam and black vinyl upholstery. The refurbishment also included new carpeting, headliner, sound insulation, wiring harness, heater blower motor, window tracks, weatherstripping, and aluminum door-sill plates. An analog clock and AM/FM radio provide additional period amenities.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel sits ahead of a 160-mph speedometer, a 5,300-rpm-redline tachometer, and gauges monitoring amperage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. With its split-window body, four-speed drivetrain, Positraction differential, and extensive refurbishment, this Corvette combines the defining styling of the inaugural C2 year with a thoroughly renewed mechanical and cosmetic specification.
