FOR SALE: 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Split-Window Coupe

Extensively modified in 2025 by Jeff Hayes of American Speed Shop

By the late 1950s, Zora Arkus-Duntov and his team at General Motors began developing a completely new generation of the Chevrolet Corvette. The resulting second-generation (C2) model arrived in 1963, showcasing bold, forward-thinking styling by Larry Shinoda and Peter Brock, along with a significantly improved chassis. Today, C2 Corvettes are regarded as some of the most collectible in the model’s history and are highly desirable platforms for custom builds.

Currently listed on Bring a Trailer is a 1963 Corvette Split-Window Coupe, extensively modified in 2025 by Jeff Hayes of American Speed Shop in Bloomington, Indiana. Beginning with an original split-window example, Hayes replaced the factory engine with a modern 6.2-liter LS3 V8, paired with a 4L70E automatic transmission.

Finished in Mediterranean Sky, the car sits on a custom Art Morrison chassis equipped with adjustable coilovers, tubular front control arms, rack-and-pinion steering, a rear torque arm, and sway bars. It rides on polished Schott 20-inch Turbine wheels with three-eared knockoff spinners. Braking is handled by drilled and ventilated rotors with Wilwood calipers.

Inside, the bespoke cabin is trimmed in Capri Sand leather with blue contrast stitching across the dashboard, center console, door panels, and bolstered seats. Matching woven carpets line the floors, while illuminated Corvette-script sill plates add a finishing touch. Modern amenities include a button-style shifter, ambient lighting, power windows, a retro-inspired stereo system, Polk audio speakers, and Vintage Air climate control.
