FOR SALE: 1966 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe 427/390

Equipped with a numbers-matching 427ci Turbo-Jet V8

Currently listed on Sotheby’s Motorsport, this 1966 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe represents an exceptionally well-preserved example of big-block C2 performance. Originally ordered new by an employee of GM’s Frigidaire division, the car has been carefully maintained for nearly 60 years and remains a standout for its rarity, authenticity, and documentation.

Power comes from a rebuilt, numbers-matching 427ci Turbo-Jet V8 dyno-tested at 400 horsepower, paired with a close-ratio M21 four-speed manual transmission—an elite, blue-chip combination recognized at the highest levels of concours judging.

The Corvette retains its factory-applied paint over most of the body, with only the rear valance and front nose refinished, a claim verified by NCRS and Bloomington Gold judging sheets. Since 1969, roughly 15,000 miles have been added, underscoring its careful stewardship and low use. Ownership history includes prominent collectors, notably U.S. Navy Captain and Blue Angels pilot Norm Gandia, whose #5 decal remains on the car.

Awards include NCRS Second Flight in 2002, Top Flight honors in 2004 and again in 2006 following a sympathetic chassis and mechanical restoration, and Bloomington Gold certification with stamping verification in 2022, along with Bloomington Bronze Survivor recognition. Gold Survivor status was denied only due to the restored chassis, not a lack of originality elsewhere. The professionally rebuilt, numbers-matching drivetrain is supported by extensive documentation.
