With brand-new, highly-optioned Corvettes reaching $134,000, joining the Corvette club for less than one-tenth the cost may seem completely illogical and impossible. I dubbed the bizarre Corvette pricing and increased demand that began to creep into the market at the beginning of 2020 as the “Covid Phenomenon.” In short, a perfect storm occurred, with the revolutionary C8 creating unprecedented demand, in concert with lots of money being pumped into the system (leading to increased discretionary spending on toys), topped off with supply chain issues, which got so bad production for the C8 was halted.
