Introduced at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show, Chevrolet’s Corvette C7.R quickly proved competitive in the North American Endurance Cup Series, earning victories at Long Beach, Laguna Seca, Watkins Glen, and Canadian Tire Motorsports Park (Mosport).
After additional triumphs in 2015 at the Rolex 24 at Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring, Chevrolet unveiled the 2016 Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition to celebrate the success of Corvette Racing and the C7.R race cars developed by Pratt & Miller in collaboration with Chevrolet.
Interestingly, the Z06 C7.R Edition arrived even before Corvette Racing secured its 2015 GTE-Pro class victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Production was limited to just 650 units, including only 80 convertibles. One such example—showing only 51 miles on the odometer—is currently listed for sale on Bring a Trailer.
This particular Corvette is far from a standard Z06. With its extensive equipment, the original window sticker topped over $120,000. Built as a tribute to the championship-winning C7.R race car, the special edition included numerous upgrades and exclusive details not found on the standard Z06.
The highly limited C7.R Edition was offered exclusively in Corvette Racing Yellow or black, with this example finished in the latter. It features distinctive C7.R Edition graphics, black wheels with yellow accent stripes, and Competition Sport Seats with carbon-fiber trim. The cabin also includes a Jet Black leather steering wheel and shifter with sueded microfiber accents, special-edition sill plates, and the full Z06 performance package.
This example is further specified with the range-topping 3LZ premium package and the nearly $25,000 C7.R package, which adds the Z07 Performance Package, carbon-ceramic Brembo brakes, and an eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.
