Four C7 trims barely share a wheel size, and the rear wells are already packed. Factory specs by trim, how offset and backspacing bite on widebody cars, cast vs flow-formed vs forged, and the install steps that prevent vibration.

The Overview
The C7 Corvette Grand Sport was built 2017–2019, 26,280 cars by GM’s counts. The Z06’s wide body, brakes and chassis with the 460-horsepower LT1: the C7 everyone who drove them called the sweet spot, with the Z07 package optional and the Collector Edition for 2017.
The Z06 without the supercharger, and the C7 most people should buy: the wide body, Magnetic Ride, electronic limited-slip, Brembo brakes and 19- and 20-inch wheels on Michelin Pilot Super Sports, with the 460-horsepower LT1 and a standard dry sump, Z07 available for the first time on a Grand Sport, from $66,445. It ran 1.05 g and 0–60 in 3.6 seconds, and sold 26,280 in three years: 11,958, 3,081 and 11,241. The Collector Edition of 2017 (935, Watkins Glen Gray, Tension Blue) and the Drivers Series of 2019 (95 cars in the liveries of Gavin, Milner, Magnussen, Garcia and Taylor) are the editions, and Grand Sports paced Indianapolis in 2017 and, with Dale Earnhardt Jr., in 2019. In 2026 Grand Sports sold for $27,500 to $62,700, most 2LT and 3LT cars between $48,000 and $62,000, and Collector Editions for about $57,500 to $60,000.

The C7 Corvette Grand Sport Story
2017–2019: The C7 Grand Sport on the Z06’s Chassis
Revealed at Geneva on March 1, 2016 and on sale that summer at $66,445, the C7 Grand Sport was the first built on the Z06’s own chassis: the wide aluminum-framed body, 19 x 10 and 20 x 12-inch Grand Sport Cup wheels on Michelin Pilot Super Sports, Brembo six-piston brakes, Magnetic Ride with its own FE6 calibration, an electronic limited-slip differential, a dry sump and differential and transmission coolers, with the 460-horsepower LT1 and performance exhaust in place of the supercharged LT4, 3,428 pounds. For the first time a Grand Sport could have Z07 (carbon-ceramic brakes, Cup 2 tires, the carbon aero) for 1.2 g, 3.6 seconds to 60 and a Milford lap within a second of the C6 ZR1. The Heritage Package hash marks went on 3,863 cars in 2017 and the Collector Edition (Watkins Glen Gray, Tension Blue, the 1963 racer embossed in the headrests) made 935 more; 11,958 Grand Sports were built that year, 3,081 in the short 2018 (with the Carbon 65 Edition on 297 of them) and 11,241 in 2019, when the Drivers Series honored Corvette Racing’s four drivers with 95 cars: 26,280 in all. Grand Sports paced the Indianapolis 500 in 2017 with Jeffrey Dean Morgan and in 2019 with Dale Earnhardt Jr., the last front-engine Corvette to do so.
The new 2017 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport combines a lightweight architecture, a track-honed aerodynamics package, Michelin tires and a naturally aspirated engine to deliver exceptional performance. Inside, the Grand Sport Collector Edition features a unique Tension Blue full leather and suede-wrapped interior, a three-dimensional representation of an original Grand Sport race car is embossed in the headrests and that shape is also used on an instrument panel plaque that carries a unique build sequence number. The C7 Corvette Grand Sport Year by Year

The Heritage Package (Z15) put hash marks in six colors on 3,863 cars and the Collector Edition (Z25) made 935 more.
Buyers took 9,912 coupes and 2,046 convertibles, 11,958 cars and 36 percent of 2017, 1,422 with Z07, 2,550 with the manual; a Grand Sport paced the Indianapolis 500 with Jeffrey Dean Morgan. In 2026 ordinary 2017 Grand Sports sold at auction for $27,500 to $62,700, a 1,000-mile manual for $96,800.
2017 Corvette Grand Sport Collector Edition. Shown with the Grand Sport at Geneva in March 2016 and built from October 2016 to February 2017, the Grand Sport Collector Edition was RPO Z25, $4,995 on a 3LT Grand Sport coupe or convertible, $80,190 and $84,190 delivered, with Z07 optional: Watkins Glen Gray Metallic, a color new for 2017, with Tension Blue fender hash marks, satin-black full-length stripes, gloss-black Grand Sport Cup wheels, Carbon Flash badges, a Tension Blue full leather-and-suede interior with two-tone seats and blue stitching, the 1963 Grand Sport race car embossed in three dimensions in the headrests and on the dash plaque that carries the build number, Collector Edition sill plates and steering-wheel and seat emblems. Chevrolet planned 1,000, 850 of them for the United States, and built 935, 784 coupes and 151 convertibles, on their own VIN series from 300001 with a 1 in the fifth position on the documented cars. In 2026 a 32,000-mile manual sold at auction for $57,500 and a 3,000-mile automatic was bid to $59,750 unsold; dealers asked up to $93,900.

The C7 Corvette Grand Sport Buyer’s Guide
The C7 Grand Sport is the Z06 without the supercharger: the wide body, the Z06’s brakes, wheels, tires and Magnetic Ride, the 460-hp LT1 on a dry sump, a manual or an automatic, a coupe or a convertible, three model years and about 26,000 cars. It is the C7 that road testers picked, and the used market treats it as a Stingray with better parts rather than as a Z06, which keeps it cheap.
Buy a 2017 for choice (the big year and the Collector Edition), a 2018 for the Carbon 65, a 2019 for the last cars and the Drivers Series. Z07 is rarer on the Grand Sport than on the Z06 and worth having only if the carbon-ceramic rotors are healthy; the manual carries a premium with collectors and the automatic is the better daily car once its shudder has been dealt with.
Which C7 Corvette Grand Sport to Buy
Every model year of the C7 Corvette Grand Sport with the verdict a buyer needs: what the year brought, which are collected and which are the value.

| 2019 | 11,241 | $66,590 / $70,590 | 460 hp | The last C7 Grand Sport and the Drivers Series cars; no premium for being last. |
What a C7 Corvette Grand Sport Costs Today
Auction and dealer results the site has tracked, by year; check whether a result includes the buyer’s premium, and treat asking prices and unsold high bids separately from completed sales.
The Grand Sport is the C7 the market has decided is the best value, the Z06’s body and chassis without the Z06’s heat or price, and 2017s trade a little under the 2018–2019 cars for the same miles; the Collector Edition is the only Grand Sport with a premium, though a modest one so far. In the year to October 2026 ordinary 2017 Grand Sports sold at auction from $27,500 for a 28,000-mile 1LT manual to $62,700 for an 11,000-mile 2LT automatic, most 2LT and 3LT cars between $48,000 and $62,000, with a 1,000-mile 2LT manual bringing $96,800 at Mecum Indianapolis.

How to Verify a C7 Corvette Grand Sport
The VIN positions, the labels, the stampings and the parts that prove a C7 Corvette Grand Sport is what it claims to be, from the year pages, year by year; where a later year repeats an earlier one, only what is new is added.
2017: Verifying a Grand Sport: the VIN has a 7 in the eighth position (the Z06’s is a 6) and a 100001-series number, and the service parts label shows Z16 with FE6, G96, Z52, KNR, NPP and a Grand Sport wheel code; the car has the Z06’s wide fenders with the Grand Sport’s fender inserts, the 19 x 10 and 20 x 12-inch Cup-style wheels, six-piston front calipers, a wicker-bill spoiler and no supercharger bulge or hood extractor. A Z07 Grand Sport shows Z07, FE7 and J57, carbon-ceramic rotors and Cup 2 tires. A Collector Edition reads 1G1Y12D7?H53 (or ?3 on the 151 convertibles) followed by 00001 to 00935, shows Z25, 3LT, G7Q, 246, Q8X and EYT on the label, carries the number on its dash plaque, and has the embossed 1963 Grand Sport in the headrests, Tension Blue hash marks and interior and satin-black stripes.
2018: Verifying a Carbon 65: the car is Ceramic Matrix Gray (G9F) with a 3LT Grand Sport or 3LZ Z06 label, Z30 on the service parts label with 198, 37S, J6B, CFV, B92 and Q90 (Grand Sport Cup-style) or Q7Y (Z06 Blade) wheels, blue calipers, the fender stripes and door graphics, Carbon 65 sill plates and center caps, the carbon-rimmed wheel, blue-stitched Competition Sport seats, a blue top on a convertible, and the numbered plaque; the VIN is in the normal 100001 (Grand Sport) or 600001 (Z06) series with a 7 or 6 in the eighth position. A Grand Sport with J57 but not Z07 is a 2018-on combination.
2019: A Drivers Series Grand Sport shows PDT, PDO, PDJ or PDA on the label with its color, stripes, hash marks and red belts, and nothing else sets it apart, so the label is the whole story.

The C7 Corvette Grand Sport Inspection List
What to check on a C7 Corvette Grand Sport before the money changes hands, from the year pages, with each year adding what is new.
2017: Inspection: the 8L90 on all three (shudder and harsh low-speed shifts, improved by fluid and software), the Grand Sport’s dry-sump and cooler plumbing on cars that have been tracked, Magnetic Ride dampers that leak, the 20 x 12 rear wheels on potholed cars, Cup 2 tires on Z07 cars that age out, carbon-ceramic rotors measured not looked at, the clutch on manuals, the carbon roof’s seals and the convertible top, the PDR and MyLink. A 3LT Z07 Grand Sport manual coupe in Admiral Blue or Watkins Glen Gray with the Heritage hash marks is the 2017 to drive; and a 2LT Grand Sport automatic under $50,000 the best-value C7 there is.
2018: A Carbon 65 Grand Sport the one to drive; and a 2LT Grand Sport automatic around $55,000 the sensible 2018, which is to say the sensible 2017 with a J in the VIN.
2019: A 2LT Grand Sport automatic at $55,000 is, as it was in 2017 and 2018, the best-value C7, now with a K in the VIN and the last of its kind.

What Goes Wrong: The C7 Corvette Grand Sport’s Known Issues
The faults a C7 Corvette Grand Sport is known for, the years they affect, what they look like and what the fix is. None of them should stop a purchase; all of them should be on the checklist, and a car with the paperwork for them is the one to buy.
| ISSUE | YEARS | WHAT HAPPENS | THE FIX |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8L90 automatic shudder | 2017–19 | The C7-wide torque-converter shudder. | The fluid and software; a converter if they fail. |
| Wheel cracking | 2017–19 | The Grand Sport’s forged wheels are the Z06’s and the subject of the same class actions. | Inspect every wheel. |
| Dry-sump and cooler plumbing | 2017–19 | Every Grand Sport has the dry-sump LT1 and the extra coolers; the lines and fittings weep on some cars. | Look for staining; check the level hot and running. |
| Carbon-ceramic rotors (Z07) | 2017–19 | Wear by weight, expensive. | Have them weighed. |
| Cup 2 tires | 2017–19 | The Z07’s Cup 2s age out and are poor in the cold. | Check date codes. |
| Paint and roof | 2017–19 | Chips at the nose; the roof panel seals. | Look in daylight. |
The C7 Corvette Grand Sport Options and Editions That Matter
What moves the price of a C7 Corvette Grand Sport beyond mileage and condition: the packages, the equipment groups and the special editions, and what each does to the value.
MORE: THE SPECIAL EDITIONS / MSRP BY YEAR
| OPTION OR EDITION | WHY IT MATTERS | WHAT IT DOES TO THE PRICE |
|---|---|---|
| Z07 Performance Package | Carbon-ceramic brakes, Cup 2 tires, the stage-3 aero. | A premium that depends on the rotors. |
| Seven-speed manual | A larger share of Grand Sports than Z06s have it. | The collector’s preference; a small premium. |
| 3LT equipment group | The full interior, PDR, nav. | Expected on the better cars. |
| Collector Edition (2017) | Watkins Glen Gray with Tension Blue hashes and the numbered interior. | A premium; dealers ask well above ordinary cars. |
| Carbon 65 Edition (2018) | Ceramic Matrix Gray with the carbon pieces; 650 across Z06 and Grand Sport. | A premium with the mileage. |
| Heritage Package | The fender hash marks in a contrasting color. | Taste; the hashes are the Grand Sport’s signature. |
What a C7 Corvette Grand Sport Costs to Own
A Grand Sport costs what a Stingray costs to run plus the Z06’s tires: the LT1 is a dry-sump pushrod V8 on Mobil 1, the brakes are steel unless it has Z07, and the 335-section rears are the one expensive consumable. Any Corvette shop can service it.
Insure it as a used car unless it is a Collector Edition or Carbon 65, which are worth an agreed-value policy.
