The Story of Nassau Blue
Nassau Blue is the most popular color of the C2 era: 6,022 cars in 1965 and 6,100 in 1966, 12,122 in two years, more than any other Sting Ray color. It is named for the Nassau Speed Weeks in the Bahamas, where Corvettes raced the Cobras every December, and it sits in the family of race-track blues — Daytona, Laguna, Marina, Elkhart, Mulsanne — that Chevrolet used through the 1960s and 1970s.
The name came back twice. The 1986–1989 Medium Blue Metallic (code 20) was sold and advertised as Nassau Blue, with 2,668 cars in 1987, and the C5 had a Nassau Blue Metallic (code 23) from 1997 to 2000, about a thousand a year. The 1999 picture post on the site is titled Bright Blue (Nassau).
