The Story of Admiral Blue
Admiral Blue was new for 1994 and would be a footnote — 1,584 cars that year, 1,006 the next — if not for the 1996 Grand Sport: all 1,000 of them Admiral Blue with an Arctic White stripe and red hash marks on the left front fender, the livery of the 1963 Grand Sport racers. That car made Admiral Blue the Corvette’s heritage blue.
Chevrolet brought it back as Admiral Blue Metallic (GTR) for the 2016 C7 late in the year, then as a $995 color for 2017 (3,068 cars, the C7 Grand Sport’s natural color) and 2018–19, and the 2027 C8 order guide revives it again, explicitly as the C4 Grand Sport blue.

FAQs
What years was the Corvette offered in Admiral Blue?
1994–1996, 2016–2019, 2027: 8 model years on the C4, C7, C8, and it is still on the 2027 order guide.
What is the GM paint code for Admiral Blue?
GM used 28, GTR across the years; the code changed when GM changed its coding system, not the paint. The paint-shop codes are 1994–1996: WA128A / PPG 4798 / DuPont B9415; 2016–2019: WA705U.
How many Admiral Blue Corvettes were built?

Is Admiral Blue a metallic, a tintcoat or a solid color?
Dark navy metallic, the Grand Sport blue. It was an extra-cost paint in some years ($500.00, $995), which is what the tintcoat or tri-coat label means: a base coat under a tinted clear and a clear, deeper to look at and harder to touch up.
What was the most popular year for Admiral Blue?
2017, with 3,068 cars, 9.4% of that year’s production.
What colors are similar to Admiral Blue?
