Corvette GT3 C6 Z06-R
During the summer of 2005, a decision was made to transform selected Z06 road cars into a new breed of racer to compete in the world's top GT3 championships. The first series to introduce this new GT3 class was the SRO and FIA's GT3 Championship. Based on their racetrack test results, Team Carsport saw instant potential in the car. Hezemans contracted Callaway Competition in conjunction with Koos Pettinga, manager at Corvette Europe, to convert the street Z06 into a Z06R GT3.
C6 Corvette LS7 7.0L Engine
GM’s was on mission to engineer a Corvette that built upon the line’s performance legacy. By all indications, this is a mission that was fulfilled. The Corvette’s engine bay was host to several outstanding powerplants during the C6’s run. From the base 6.0-liter LS2 to the ZR1’s beastly 6.2-liter LS9, the C6-era was never short on performance. Corvette finally caught up to European brands.

Upon the LS3’s release in 2007, this trend toward continual technological advancement was clearly evident. As the new power plant for the standard 2008 Corvette, the LS3 provided consumers with exactly what they had been craving, unsurpassed performance. With every reiteration, the LS small-block has become more powerful, efficient, and robust.

The C6 is truly a track-capable beast that offers incredible power at an affordable price. When developing the sixth-generation Corvette, Chevrolet adopted the mantra, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." For all intents and purposes, it was an evolution of the C5.
In late 2007 Corvette Europe approached the FIA seeking approval to race a C6 Coupe in the GT4 category.  After much study the FIA approved their request.  Kroymans shipped a new 2008 C6 Z51 six-speed coupe to Callaway Competition in Leingarten, Germany. In less than six weeks the Callaway team stripped the new car of all non-essential parts including carpet and standard seats. 
In addition to the limited-edition Corvette Victory Edition, a second special version of our favorite all-American sports car was introduced in spring, the Corvette Competition. This model, built in limited numbers on the basis of the C6 Corvette, bears strong links to motor sport too, in which the Corvette has proven highly successful. The Corvette Competition was competitively priced and one heck of a package.

2008 Corvette Daytona Pace Car
With defending Daytona 500 Champion Kevin Harvick at the unveiling, surrounded by Chevrolet, General Motors and Daytona International Speedway officials, hundreds watched the much-anticipated unveiling of the 2008 Corvette Z06 Daytona 500 Pace Car ~ the Official Pace Car of The Daytona 500, NASCAR's biggest race. Apart from its special paint and the addition of a integrated light bar, it is almost identical to the street version.

A total of 35,310 Corvettes rolled off the end of the assembly line for the 2008 production model year, the fourth year of the C6 generation Corvette. Production volumes fell slightly in 2008 (down from 40,561 units in 2007).
